How do you store an Olympic bar?
Proper barbell storage guidelines:
- Store your bar horizontally if possible.
- Store your bar up high, not near the ground.
- If storing your bar vertically, use care when placing it in your storage solution.
- Never store your bar with weights on it.
- Never store your bar on the ground.
- Never store your bar at an angle.
How do you make your own weights?
You can make your own weights in less than 5 minutes, no tools required! Take your milk jugs, water jugs, or any other bottle kind and fill with water, rice, pebbles or sand. Secure the original lids back onto the jug and lift. That’s it.
Can you keep a power rack outside?
It’s possible to keep your gym equipment in reasonably good shape even outdoors. The main issue is rain or even nighttime dew. If it’s outside, it will get wet. Secondarily, rubber, vinyl and plastic could suffer from UV damage without proper care.

Use a light coat of WD-40 or 3-in-1 oil. WD-40 works because it is a water displacer and dries quick. Spray it onto a rag, wipe down the whole bar and leave overnight, then wipe it down again.
